The Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process has had great relevance as a management tool. However, knowledge of it is limited, and on many occasions, the benefits that can be derived from it are not clear.
So this past Wednesday, December 7, Sintec, a leading consulting firm for creating profitable growth and developing competitive advantage through client and operational strategies, presented a webcast session entitled: S&OP – How to make it a Reality.
The session was conducted by Angel Hermida, Sintec Practice Director, who explained that S&OP is a process that encompasses all areas of the operation of a company, and that well-implemented, it allows a more agile and more fluid functioning in the company, making it the vehicle for strategy execution. Regarding the benefits of S&OP, he commented that one can expect benefits in income, profitability, cash flow, and customer service, along with an important improvement in communication and coordination between areas. Lastly, he explained that a successful implementation of the S&OP process also requires a strong component of management of the change and alignment of measurement and compensation of personnel.
The session brought together more than 30 managers from different areas of the supply chain: operations, logistics, commercial, and others. Among the participating companies, were: Barcel, Bimbo, Campbell’s, Cuprum, Farmacias del Ahorro, Grupo Comercial Control, Grupo Ibarra, Herbalife, Interceramic, Kellogg, Omnilife, Pedro Domecq, Ragasa, Sanofi Aventis and Vitro.
